We work hard to make Mt Cook School a place where tamariki, whānau and staff feel like they belong.

The Arts

Performing and visual arts provide opportunities for creativity across the kura.

Our classes create artworks in a variety of media throughout the year. In Term Four we hold our Community Arts Festival when our classrooms turn into galleries and our community is invited to marvel at the creativity on display.

We make the most of our inner city location to visit exhibitions and performances that are taking place at the City Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Te Papa and Michael Fowler Centre.

Our junior and senior dance crews and all comers band meet each week and our tamariki have the opportunity to take part in Dance Splash and Art Splash every two years.

We are very lucky to have Arohanui Strings + based at our kura. This amazing charitable trust provide music lessons free of charge after school on Mondays. For more information you can contact the programme director on: programme.director@arohanuistrings.org
