Attendance
Every Day Matters and we have a strong focus on ensuring that all tamariki attend school regularly.
We follow an attendance plan that aligns with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines. As part of this process:
If an ākonga has up to 10 days of absence, whānau will receive a yellow attendance notification.
If an ākonga reaches 15 days of absence, whānau will receive an orange attendance notification and be invited to attend a hui to discuss how we can support regular attendance.
If an ākonga has 15 days or more of absence in a term, a further hui will be requested and, in some cases, a referral may be made to attendance services.
Please note that these absence totals include all absences, including those due to illness, medical appointments, family circumstances, or travel overseas. Under current Ministry of Education requirements, all days away from school are counted as absences.
Our goal is to work alongside whānau to support every child to attend school regularly and achieve success. If your whānau is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, please contact us so we can work together to find solutions.
